Acid - Alkaline Balance

Challenge #88

Have you checked the pH level of your blood recently? Probably not unless you have deliberately gone in for health tests or possibly a medical weight loss program. You can get test strips to measure your saliva or urine just as easily.

pH, meaning the potential of hydrogen, is the measure of alkaline or acidity in a solution from 0-14. The center number of 7 being in neutral balance. Our bodies are made up of 70% of water with an alkaline-acid ratio known as our pH that strives to find balance between positively charged ions (acidic) and negatively charged ions (alkaline).  When the balance is compromised, health problems occur.

I challenge you to take a look at your pH balance today and see where you measure in. You can order pH strips or find them in most drugstores and pharmacies. There are many diets out there and food lists online of what you can ingest to help balance out your pH levels. In short, it's one part acid to 4 parts alkaline to maintain a healthy balance.  Alkaline is essentially organically mineral rich and acid is erosive and toxic. The more we can extract and eliminate excessive acid, the better we are.  Keep in mind that so-called alkaline water through electrolysis do not affect the blood pH levels, so don't waste your money on expensive in-home water systems. It's a  matter of certain foods and what our bodies process through digestion that affect our blood pH levels. We do need water, and pure water at that, to hydrate, as well as other liquids, but water is a different issue altogether.

It's a lifestyle change, the more life giving you are to your body, the more life your body will give to you. Take a look at the other toxic elements in your life....and let's work on eliminating those too.....

Hunger Games

Challenge #87

It's not the movie, or movie based. It's not glamorous and people have a tendency to turn their heads on it. The issue of hunger has been plaguing our world for decades. Here in the US, for baby boomers growing up, the dinner meal was where the verbal lashing in one way or another would get spoken..."finish your plate, there are starving children in India who are starving..."  And, even grown boomers continue to speak those words to their children today, perhaps not so seriously as the earlier generations.  However, hunger is a major killer, does exist domestically and is not to be ignored. Hunger has affected the US in recent times with an unsteady economy, rising food prices, joblessness, and disastrous weather. Los Angeles alone has over 2.5 million people affected by hunger and the numbers are growing rapidly.

I challenge you to do your part to help end hunger, even if on a local basis. Hunger is sometimes unspoken and most likely among those you know, neighbors or family households that have been unemployed for awhile, single and with families. People going without food is more often than not these days and not to lose weight or diet on purpose. The popularity of .99 cent stores produce departments is growing by leaps and bounds.  Offer to share extra food with neighbors, or groceries you don't need or eat any longer that may be in your cupboards. Donate to food pantries, prep nutritious meals for loved ones, neighbors and elderly. . Volunteer time to kitchens, become aware of good nutrition and value how to create new ways of cultivating good foods for now and the future.

Cosmic Junkyard

Challenge #86

One giant leap for mankind has created a cosmic junkyard. Over the span of 6 decades we have created a vast expanse of space junk out in the orbit fields of our galaxy that will come back to us in it's own form and time. Thinly spread out, it doesn't smell or pollute the ozone, however it can pack a punch in the earth's soil or on our bodies should something actually hit us in the head falling quickly from the sky.

I challenge you to take at look at what you may be slowly filling up in your immediate galaxy that could have repercussions when it no longer serves you. What by-products are accumulating in the ethers for you?  How does your energetic debris affect others? Are you creating your own cosmic junkyard in the negative energies that you put out there?

Vibrational Conversations

Challenge #85

Thoughts become things and your thoughts can change your life's destiny and even everyday life.  Every thought you think creates a vibrational energy that transmits a frequency. The stronger the frequency, the more likely you will begin to attract the vibrational energy surrounding the thought and therefore will manifest the physical form of the thought. Simply put, let's take pizza for instance, the thought of pizza vaguely runs through your mind early in the day, the smell, the taste and the look of it, the more you think of it, more likely you will go and get that pizza or order one or make it for dinner. Now you  may have other thoughts that run through your mind, such as rational ones, ie: can I afford it? will it ruin my diet? What if noone else wants pizza? But you are so determined to have that pizza because it is seems sooooo good for you in your mind you simply must have it, you go ahead and manifest it. The more exact you are in your thoughts about the pizza, the more the pizza will be exactly like you thought it or wanted it to be.   We have these vibrational conversations all the time with ourselves.

We also have vibrational conversations with others, through our sleep time in dreams, and, through the day thinking of others, with or without intention.

I challenge you to look at what your thoughts are today and what vibrational conversations you are having with yourself and may be having subconsciously with others.

1. Make list of al the thoughts running through your mind.
2. Decide if they are positive or negative for yourself.
3. Make a choice to turn them into positive.

The Final Phase

Challenge #84

Fall began just three days ago in our Northern Hemisphere and ushered in the season of the shedding of the year's past. There are 96 days left until 2012. Winter solstice will begin on December 22, 2011.  The days are getting shorter, sunlight is less a part of our day. Time is beginning to have an effect on us environmentally, physically and emotionally, should you want to plan a course of action for the new year.

I challenge you to start today and
1. Make a list of the things you want to complete for the rest of this year.
2. Give gratitude for the things you have been able to  manifest and complete in your life this year.
3. Become aware of holiday plans, dinner, meals, entertainment from the major ones such as Rosh Hashanah, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and any others I have left out that may have importance to you. Outline them and organize the tasks you need to complete for them.
4. Take a look at what you want to accomplish for 2012. How do you want it to look, how do you want to be? What would you like to have happen next year? What is it that you would like to manifest.
5. Begin to make a plan of action to make next year happen!!

Kleptocracy

Challenge #82

What are your thoughts on the US beholding a government of Kleptocracy?  Where do you think is our nation headed?  Kleptocracy defined by the free dictionary as a government characterized by rampant greed and corruption. And other sources as ruled by thieves.

I challenge you to make your thoughts known here on this blog or speak out in some way in which you are heard publicly....

Futurama

Challenge #81

Happy Anniversary to the funnest cartoon series I have ever seen (that is with the exception of "The Inch High Private Eye")!! Oh how I loved this series of high flying space dwellers. The Jetsons celebrate 49 years of creation, next year being the half century marker. First shown on ABC Sunday September 23, 1962, it was the first program to ever be aired in color in prime time.

The Jetsons depicted American family life set in the future with space ships, aliens, sophisticated electronics, robots, holograms and what we experience now on some level but was only vivid imagination back then.  I think they did a pretty good job!!!

I challenge you to take a look at today and then jump into the future and draw out what you think it will be like. Make it a family project if you like. What will the more modern household conveniences be? What would you like to see in your home 50 years from now? What will working be like, what will the work week be? What is the currency like? What mode of transport would you like? What will we wear? How will you communicate other than the cell phones and computers we have now? What will our food be like? Will the family structure change? What will comprise a family in the future, more or less members?

Rejection

Challenge #80

How do you deal with rejection?

Some people deliberately try to avoid rejection simply by not taking a job that will offer a lot of rejection. Sometimes it is avoidance of pursuing a potential date with a person or, sometimes it is in not asking for what we want in work or within a relationship or friendship or family because we think we won't get it.  Sometimes it is in not going for our dreams because we think they won't come true.

Sometimes rejection can be seen as a blessing in disguise in the sense that perhaps the timing just wasn't right within the universe's timing for you. The gorgeous woman who rejected you for a date or who you fell head over heels in love with and then used all your money and skipped out on you could be an adulterous felon or worse yet, a serial killer. the perfect job that you didn't get that would have you travelling all over the world and fill your bank accounts up through eternity could have you killed in a fatal plane crash or a car crash while driving with a client along the Amalfi Coast. The patent idea you had that didn't come through could result in years of legal battles and leave you bankrupt. The kids you didn't have could all be criminals and derelicts rather than the beacons of society to make you proud. You see, it's all a matter of perception in how you view things, such as the cup being half full or half empty. In what perception do you view life?

Some people retaliate by certain defense mechanisms from their past histories that kick in when they are rejected. Anger, frustration and over-anxiety can exhibit how a person reacts to the trigger of rejection and sometimes they feel they can project those reactions onto others. Ask yourself, do you feel you have the right to "attack" someone because they rejected you?  And if you answer yes, ask yourself why? Do you feel as though you have the right to slander, harrass or otherwise annoy another because of your emotional state?  Do you always have to have the last say in a situation, even if it gets out of control because you felt entitled to do anything to make yourself feel better about yourself regardless of how you do it?  Just understand that when you do something to annoy harrass, threaten or slander another, it is not one sided and that the other person has a right to tell you stop. Be prepared to deal with the messages of STOP, especially in the eyes of the law....

I challenge you to learn to be in gratitude for the all rejections in your life and understand that they are ways of protecting you. See rejection as protection. And, to not affect others in the ways that you deal with rejection. Work it out on your own way with a support team of professionals if needed. Hypnotherapy, marriage and family counseling, psychic counseling, energy work. Taking responsibility for your issues and not affecting others creates a better path for yourself....

Copy Cats

Challenge #79

When someone copies what we do, say think, act or write, consider it a compliment. I used to get a bit offended when I would witness this among people I knew. I pride my myself on original thinking, having had to get used to my uniqueness and appreciating my differences from others.  Now, I totally get it and am thankful that they thought so much of me that they chose my way. It's the biggest form of flattery on earth, trust me~!

So, I challenge you to be your own unique and original thinker and inspire others to copy cat what you do - mirror what you do. Notice how you will begin to feel...

Measuring Up

Challenge #78

When taking a look at yourself in comparison to others, how do you measure up? Is measuring up important to you? Society tends to make us compare ourselves to others through popular media and other forms of monitoring. Family can very much be a direct influence in comparing ourselves to each other. When you see or meet someone randomly on the street or in public places, do you size them up instantly in comparison to you? Does it take a situation for you to sum someone up? Or do you find pressure in trying to constantly measure up to others standards, especially among family or close friends?

I challenge you to sum up all your parts, that is, materially, financially, physically, socially, ethically, spiritually and emotionally. Get a little book and categorize all of your elements to who you are and start rating each element of yourself  of what you like and do not like about yourself from 1 - 10.  Then go back and rate yourself 1-10 again but by what you have or hold within each element. Try this exercise with a friend or neighbor and have them rate themselves, and compare... the results may astound you.....

LOA

Challenge #77

The Law Of Attraction  is the concept that like attracts like, good or bad. When negativity comes into your life in some way, look within and see what negativity you may have been projecting in order to attract it. We have a tendency to think that we attract bad without looking at ourselves to see what we may be projecting outwardly from a subconscious level. For manifestation to occur on an energetic level, if you want to attract positive, become positive yourself.

I challenge you to become that positive beacon so that you can radiate out and attract all that you want. Clear your energy centers, the chakras, clear your body of toxins, clear your mind of all negative thoughts, clear your life of negative people. Be around only positive in order to attract positive.

Flying Machine

Challenge #76

Although Orville and Wilbur Wright weren't the first to build and fly
an airplane, they were the ones to invent the three axis aircraft controls enabling a pilot to steer effectively and maintain equilibrium, that made fixed-wing powered flight possible.

When we have ideas for inventions and create , what does it take to perfect it? If you  have an invention out there and it just isn't catching on, meditate and ask the universe for help with what it takes to make it work better.  I challenge you to go the extra mile and focus on perfection for this. The crafting of creating the actual mechanism that makes all the other prototypes possible is what you are seeking. Your idea or invention may just be the next great product for mankind and industry.

Chicken Royal

Challenge #75

Tokyo77, a wonderfully cozy retro Japanese diner, where vets and ex-pats still hang out and enjoy fabulously cheap and filling breakfasts and lunches in a small berg far from Little Tokyo yet within the metropolis of LA.  The wait staff is all Japanese, there are booths and a well worn counter with the original red leatherette swivel stool seats battened down to the floor.  My favorite on the menu is Chicken Royal, scrambled eggs with large chunks of white meat chicken and onions over rice with a light soy infused gravy with green onions as garnish. I believe the royal part is a carry over of Hawaiian dishes that have had the name bestowed upon them generations before.

What a treat it is to experience this moment in time and the delicious breakfasts created there. I challenge you to find your Chicken Royal, that favorite breakfast diner filled with nostalgia and olfactory sensations.

the God Box

Challenge #74

This is not to say that divinity comes in a box, or only good things come in small packages. The main purpose of creating and having a God box is to find a container that is large enough to hold a slip of paper that you would write out a prayer, wish or endearment onto and store it in the box until it manifested or completed.

Creating a God box is something that can be a bit therapeutic, cathartic and exercise your right brain muscles to come up with a container that is befitting of you.   I challenge you to create your own very own God Box and find a place to store it that will display proper reverence to your belief that all things are good and all your desires and wishes can happen. The size can vary, and, you can even find token boxes to be worn as a pendent that are large enough to hold a tiny piece of paper.  I suggest that you reveiw everything in your God box once a month and clear out what has manifested or been taken care of so that you can bring in new energies for new requests. Find comfort in your box and keep it to yourself.

Footprint

Challenge # 73

What is the size of your footprint? And what is the size of your footprint here in earth in terms of measuring your contributions? Not going into ecological or carbon footprint measuring and how you contribute to the diminishing of earth's resources, but what is the measure of how much you do here on earth to help others? What organizations or causes do you contribute to? Do you sponsor work or community events to raise money for special needs? Do you volunteer time to create awareness to help others? Do you have a blog in which you reveal your thoughts and ideas to help and effectively reach others?

I challenge you to look at the size of your footprint so far to measure how much you have helped others, and take steps to move forward in doing more. You can easily pass off things to larger organizations, but what do you really do on your own to help. When we help others, we help ourselves....

Age is only a number, but....

Challenge #72

Do you lie about your age? Why? There is a difference between chronological age, which is simply your age in years, and biological which is your age at a cellular level. Your quality of life can determine at what rate your cellular growth will be. Lifestyle factors such as stress level, nutritional balance, exercise and weight management  are all going to affect your biology.  A person can be 50 and look and feel like they are 35, 70 and look like they are 60, or, 50 and their biological age is 65. It all depends on how their life has been played out. For example, I don't know him personally, however, he man pictured is 64 chronologically, but is 50 biologically....

Now, a person who deliberately lies to you about their age for their benefit is really only hurting themselves.  Say for example, you meet someone with the expectation that they are the age that they represent themselves to you prior, then is actually over 10-15 years their real age, and sadly looks it, is....deceitful not only to you but to themselves. For both sexes, denial is a very common when dealing with age....

Embracing your chronological age and then finding out that your biological age is much lower and not knowing it, is a delight.  Finding out it is much older, is a wake up call to look at your life and how to make some changes.

I challenge you to take a look at your chronological age and find out what your biological age is. There are numerous online free tests that you can find to determine yours. My chronological age is 49 and my biological age is 32. Happy hunting!!

What's in a Name...

Challenge #71

According to Wikipedia, Onomastics is the study of the origin and meanings of names of all kinds. Anthroponomastics is the study of personal names. A given name is purposefully given, usually by a child's parents at or near birth, in contrast to an inherited one such as a family name.Given names are often used in a familiar and friendly manner in informal situations. In more formal situations the surname is used instead, unless it is necessary to distinguish between people with the same surname. They go on to say...."The western style of having both a family name and a given name (Christian name or forename) is far from universal. In many countries it is common for ordinary people to have only one name."

I challenge you to take a look at your name and discover the origin of it as well as your sur or family name. Do you like your name? Does your name truly define who you are? Were you given a middle name, do you use it. Do you want to change your name, the spelling or the entire name?

Safety and Calm

Challenge #70

Wake up and look outside the window. Are you feeling safe and calm? Savor what you see and feel. Be in a state of blissful gratitude for all the goodness around you.   Carry that feeling with you as you get ready for the day, driving or getting to work, errands or whatever the tasks are for you. See how long you are able to hold onto the feelings of calm and safety.  I challenge you to try to maintain these feelings throughout an entire 24 hour period and see how it changes your day....

9/11

Challenge #69

September 11, 2001, the day the world stood still in the wake of 4 deliberate massive terrorist attacks on the US. Two attempts on Washington DC and the two world trade towers in the financial district of New York City.

I was a flight attendant for both American and United airlines years ago, and know that you don't have to put on a uniform, pin on wings, drive to work, do a safety check of your aircraft and strap into your jumpseat to have  affinity and sorrow for the people lost, the fallen heroes of everyone on those 4 horrific flights. The sorrow and loss of the hundreds of thousands and of others directly affected on that day will be forever revered and remembered by all.

I am proud of the US for the dignity and strength it has shown as a nation to pull together and rise above the hatred of others, to assess and change perceptions to help understand each other and make a difference in the world.  As the 10th year anniversary, I challenge you to take a moment of silence and give gratitude and reverence to not only the heroes but also for the lives lost that fateful day and may you never forget ...

The Art of Tea

Challenge #68

Tea plants originated in Asia as early as the 11th century and spread throughout the world by the the mid 17th century.  Tea is a popular alternative to coffee as a beverage and has had medicinal benefit and uses through time.  Globally tea has become a main focus in  social events, such as the Japanese, Chinese and Indian ceremonies in which tea has a special process of creation, preparation, handling, serving and then...drinking. In Britain, early afternoon and high teas are served in combination with foods such as special sandwiches, biscuits and cookies. Americans have recently in this century adopted tea as a daily ritual beverage and have harvested unique marketing concepts as herbals, botanical mixes and infusions that are sold in boutiques everywhere. The idea of the art of tea is to appreciate the essence and flavor of the tea, the taste, and the break in your day to relax and enjoy it.
I challenge you to find a tea that you love and take the time to savor the taste and allow yourself to take a 15 minute break during your day to kick back, relax and enjoy...

Final Resting Place

Challenge #67

As we embark upon the 10 year anniversary of one of the most tragic days in world history known as "9/11", when, on Sept 11, 2001 terrorist attacks hailed their mighty reign over the US for one monstrous day that will never be forgotten. Thousands of lives were immediately impacted, death, terror and mystery unfolded into a stream of unraveling for years as the message became clearer and clearer, that the US is not spared one moment of safety and mortality in the face of global hatred.  Have you looked at the subject of your own mortality lately? It is not something that we typically get up in the morning and do. In fact, we never plan for it or even want to think of it. However, when loved ones are lost, when death is experienced unexpectedly to someone we know and impacts us, how do we react? I challenge  you to take a look in silence to yourself and ask yourself, where do you want your final resting place to be? Is it near friends and family? Is it spread out over the ocean or special place to you? Spend a few moments in meditation and consider this....it is inevitable, our souls live on, but our bodies expire, where do you want your body to laid to rest when it is time?

awareness of your surroundings

Challenge #66

What do you pay attention to the most in your surroundings? Inside your home or other's homes and outdoors. Is it noise, people, visual things. Ask yourself what it is the most that you notice when you enter a room or leave a place. I challenge you to narrow it down to the one thing that you become aware of in your surroundings in a moment of your everyday life. Ponder that and ask yourself what it is about that one thing that makes you more aware of it....

Labor Day

Challenge #65

The holiday began as an observance of the working force in the united states. It is marked as the first Monday in September and most employers are closed so that workers can take the day off and enjoy with their families. Labor Day is also the mark of the end of summer and the last weekend before school begins. Many families will celebrate with a gathering of friends and hold a weekend cookout, mini-vacation or retail therapy

On this Labor Day, I challenge you to look at your work, your career and see if it is fulfilling you in the way you need it to. Not all work needs to fulfill us, but if you are on a career track, take a look at where you are in it. Do you need to progress, do you feel stagnant? Are you right where you want to be? If you are not currently in the work you really would like to be doing, give thought as to what you truly want. Take a moment to assess and to give thanks that you are where you are, regardless of the level. Be in gratitude for the gift of having work, as still so many are unemployed throughout the nation. ...

19...63

Challenge #63

Since we are on Challenge # 63 today, I chose this year, 1963 as a tellingly significant year in my personal history. I lost my leaders, my parents and my family. This is the year that was chosen that I be put up for adoption among hundreds of thousands of other children in my native country of Seoul Korea. I was in fact adopted and taken away from my native country to live in the US, the western world, a life very different than what might have been. I was given a new life in a very tiny town in the midwestern state of Ohio, where at a very young age, learning to live with uniqueness became necessity, my survival.

With an innocent visual to represent the year 1963, of what brings to mind a simplistic, semi-rural Mayberry USA, The year in pictures actually held alot of complicated and rich US and global history, and in parallel to my life, alot of ...loss. Most memorably in the US, it was the year in which JFK was assassinated. Significant social, political, technological and environmental events pressed on and by years end, the entire world was in shock as a major national leader was now gone. 1963 also witnessed the death of Pope John Paul XXIII at the Vatican. Globally, political problems in Vietnam were mounting and South Korea had returned to civilian rule. Hurricanes in in Bangladesh, Saipan and Haiti caused massive flooding and killed almost 30,000 people. Earthquakes in Libya and Yugoslavia killed hundreds and destroyed cities. Polio vaccines were given in the US and UK with a lump of sugar. Martin Luther King, Jr delivered his "I have a Dream Speech" and Kenya gained independence from Britain.

And, in pop culture, some may recall the song from 1975 by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, "December 1963, Oh what A Night".

So, I challenge you to take a look at a significant year for you and see what happened in history. Allow the flood of memories to soak in and realize that you too are a significant part of history. It's not just the people around you that you think made history, you are historic in your own, by just being. Stand in your moment of importance and realize that you are here on earth to make history even greater....

Emancipation

Challenge #62

At some point in our lives, we need to break free from the chains that hold us back, that no longer serve us. Those chains, seen as emotional ties and beliefs, may originate from early childhood experiences with memories that keep us from moving forward, taking the steps we need to and being able to see ahead. They leave us feeling stuck, bound and sometimes depressed. They stem mostly from fear resulting in the lack of trust in ourselves, judgmentalism, criticism, disbelief in positive outcomes, and low self esteem and low self-love.

I challenge you to begin to notice your chains, how heavy they are, what they mean to you, how they hold you back, and allow yourself to break free of them. Sometimes they are referred to as the ethereal cords - negative psychic cords that tie you to others and seems impossible to break free of. Imagine yourself bound by these cords and then see a big pair of scissors or a machete come doen and cut them away in one swoop. Feel the lightness you suddenly feel....do this for each one you feel and acknowledge gratitude and vow protection for having completed this....

Mornings

Challenge #61

That quiet time when we first wake up and allow our consciousness to be felt. It is a feeling of newness. Whatever happened the night before good or bad, is always a secondary feeling to when we first greet the morning.

I challenge you to take a look at the way you feel when you wake up in the morning. Relish the opportunity to start fresh and anew upon each dawning of the day. Appreciate the stillness and quiet at those moments and make the most of it thru either 5-10 minutes of focused meditation, deep breathing, exercising, journaling or just simply being in silent gratitude. I used to make a thermos of coffee and walk down to the beach every morning with my camp chair, set up, listen to the gulls, the waves lapping softly on the shore and watch as the light began to get brighter. 30 minutes to enjoy and appreciate your mornings by yourself can alter your entire day, raising your vibration, allowing clarity to come to you.....

Animal Magnetism

Challenge #60

Happy September 1st, days after the dawn of a new moon and only 121 days or 17 weeks and 2 days left until the dawn of a new year. Three more months left to carve out a new you!!
Sexual attraction or raw charisma is usually termed as animal magnetism these days. The factor that is irresistible between humans to date, mate and otherwise copulate. We know it when we see it and feel it.

I Challenge you to take a look at your animal magnetism meter and see where it is now....and where you would like it to be. Flirt today, taunt, take a look at someone in a different way that says, you are charismatic and see what kind of reaction you get...
