Chicken Royal

Challenge #75

Tokyo77, a wonderfully cozy retro Japanese diner, where vets and ex-pats still hang out and enjoy fabulously cheap and filling breakfasts and lunches in a small berg far from Little Tokyo yet within the metropolis of LA.  The wait staff is all Japanese, there are booths and a well worn counter with the original red leatherette swivel stool seats battened down to the floor.  My favorite on the menu is Chicken Royal, scrambled eggs with large chunks of white meat chicken and onions over rice with a light soy infused gravy with green onions as garnish. I believe the royal part is a carry over of Hawaiian dishes that have had the name bestowed upon them generations before.

What a treat it is to experience this moment in time and the delicious breakfasts created there. I challenge you to find your Chicken Royal, that favorite breakfast diner filled with nostalgia and olfactory sensations.
